When God Speaks Through Small Mercies
his mercies are new every morning - nono .jpeg

There are seasons in life when burdens seem to arrive all at once.

We carry concerns for our families, our health, our work, our communities, and sometimes even for entire nations that remain close to our hearts. In those moments, it is easy to wonder where God is and why our prayers seem unanswered.

Over the past months, I have found myself carrying many concerns.

My heart has been heavy for Venezuela, especially Caracas and La Guaira, the places where I grew up and where so many memories helped shape who I am today. I have longed to help, to serve, and to make a difference, yet many doors have remained closed.

At the same time, life continued to bring its own challenges. Family health concerns, professional responsibilities, and the daily uncertainties of life often felt overwhelming.

Then God reminded me of a simple but profound truth:

He is present not only in the great miracles, but also in the small mercies.

Recently, our rabbit Ñoño became ill. He stopped eating and appeared weak. Throughout the day I worried and prayed.

The next morning, after cleaning and caring for him, I offered him a small piece of carrot.

To my great relief, he began to eat.

I found myself crying tears of gratitude and praising God.

To some, it may seem like a small thing. But in that moment, God reminded me that He sees our worries, our prayers, and even the smallest details of our lives.

"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God."— Luke 12:6

If God notices the sparrows, He certainly notices the burdens we carry.

Ellen G. White beautifully wrote:

"Nothing that in any way concerns our peace is too small for Him to notice."— Steps to Christ, p. 100

How often we try to carry life's burdens alone when God invites us to place them in His hands?

"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you."— 1 Peter 5:7

Notice that Scripture says all your anxieties.

Not only the major crises.

Not only the spiritual struggles.

All of them.

  • The concerns about family.
  • The uncertainties about the future.
  • The disappointments.
  • The unanswered questions.
  • The silent tears.

When we bring everything to God, He gives us something the world cannot provide:

"And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds through Christ Jesus."— Philippians 4:7

Ellen White reminds us:

"Those who take Christ at His word, and surrender their souls to His keeping, their lives to His ordering, will find peace and quietude."— The Desire of Ages, p. 331

Today I am reminded that although some prayers remain unanswered and some roads remain uncertain, I am not alone.

God has not forgotten us.

He is still present.

He is still leading.

And His mercies are still new every morning.

"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
